A GREAT Day!
I woke up 6:30AM today. My 1st class was at 8...
While fixing myself up, maybe around 20 minutes before 8, something went wrong downstairs. All lights were out, power outlets not working... Blah blah. The helper might have messed up the water pump motor and had some fuse problems. But my father fixed the fuse after a few minutes.
Went to school. When I got there, the Recital Hall was still locked. Only a few students were roaming around. I decided to go back home after a few minutes of waiting.
Got home a few minutes later. Practiced until it was 10AM. Then it was time for my Applied Major, my Piano Lesson with the Dean.
On the way, I forgot to bring my eyeglasses. I was only carrying my piano book bag with me. I would be late if I go back and take it, so I just went on with my walk to school.
When I got there, no one was operating the student elevator so I used the stairs instead.
After the tiring climb to the 5th floor, I went into the office and knocked at Dean's office to let him know that I am there. Then I went and waited at the Dean Studio.
I had a hard time reading some pieces. It would have been easy if I was using an upright piano, but the piano there was a Baby Grand. The place where the sheets are placed on is further away from you than where you place sheets on an upright.
I had LOTS of mistakes but I think I did fine. Luckily he did not fell asleep inspite of my mistakes... (I think he sleeps during class when his student did not study much before the lesson. Well, atleast that's what my friend, another student of his, told me before.)
After the lesson, he told me that I did good. I just need to improvise more and exaggerate the dynamics more to bring more life and expression to the piece. He asked me to follow him into his office to check the curriculum for the exam. Ms. Permejo, my old filipino teacher back at 2005, was there waiting for him.
He checked level 4 first, he saw that I was already too advanced for IV, then V, the same. I was lacking only a few for level VIII curriculum so he told me that we'd get those ready to prepare me for this sem's exam. I really never expected this one coming. I always thought that my level was only IV. Hahaha
Well... that was supposed to be the previous curriculum. They've changed it for a reason I still don't know. Before, a bachelor of music piano student needs to finish level XII in order to graduate. But now, level XII equals level VIII. I would be level V if I pass the exam this March. I trust his judgment. I'll be doing my best for this semester.
That's what happened so far.
